Ms. Hoeurn Plech was a trainee from the 11th intake of the Receptionist program in the Front Office Department at Youth’s Dream Fulfillment Association (YDFA) in 2025. She was born on April 7th, 2006, in Chrey Village, Kchas Commune, Sotnikum District, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. She comes from a small family of three members. Her parents, Mr. Kuch Hean and Mrs. Kan Plann, are both farmers who work hard to support the family.At the end of 2024, Plech received information from a friend about the opportunity to enroll in YDFA’s free vocational training program, which offers four main skills: Receptionist, Food & Beverage Service, Housekeeping, and Cooking. With a strong desire to improve her life and support her family, she decided to apply for the Receptionist program.
After successfully passing the home visit and interview process conducted by the YDFA team, she was selected to join the Front Office Department on January 1st, 2025. During her 10-month training at YDFA, Plech demonstrated strong commitment and dedication. She was known as a hardworking, attentive, helpful, and respectful trainee among both trainers and her peers.Her training consisted of six months of theoretical study followed by four months of internship at partner hotels. She completed her internship at Siem Reap River View Residence and Angkor Century Hotel, where she worked as a receptionist. Although the beginning of her internship was challenging, Plech remained patient, honest, and determined. Through her perseverance and positive attitude, she gradually built confidence and improved her skills, earning recognition from her supervisors.
After successfully completing the program, Plech secured a position as a Front Office staff member at Phoum Chaufea Resort. During her three-month probation period, she earns a salary of $180 per month, along with additional benefits such as an 8% service charge, tips, public holidays (PH), annual leave (AL), and NSSF support.Despite her new income, Plech remains committed to her family. She sends part of her salary to support her parents and uses the rest for her daily needs and further self-improvement. She is currently investing in extra English classes to strengthen her communication skills, as she aspires to become a Front Office Manager in the future.Plech expresses her sincere gratitude to the YDFA management team, Child’s Dream Cambodia, and especially to Mr. Marc and Mr. Daniel for their continuous support in providing this life-changing vocational training program. She believes that YDFA has given her not only professional skills but also the confidence and opportunity to build a brighter future.
Mr. Von Vicheka is a 10th intake Cook Helper trainee from the Kitchen Department at Youth’s Dream Fulfillment Association (YDFA) in 2024. He was born on November 1st, 2006, in Skun Village, Tbeng Commune, Banteay Srei District, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. He comes from a family of five members, including his parents, his younger brother, and his baby sister. His parents, Mr. Pin Savun and Mrs. Seat Lyna, are farmers who work hard to support the family.After the rice harvest season, his parents work as cashew collectors, earning around $7.5 per day to cover daily expenses. Due to financial difficulties, Mr. Vicheka stopped his studies in Grade 7 in 2022 to help support his family. He worked as a cashew collector, earning about $8 per day before joining YDFA.At the end of 2023, he learned about YDFA’s vocational training program through an alumnus. The program offers four majors: Receptionist, Food and Beverage Service, Housekeeping, and Cook Helper.
With a strong desire to improve his life and support his family, he chose to pursue Cook Helper training. After successfully passing the home visit and interview process, he officially joined YDFA’s Kitchen Department on February 1st, 2024.
During his training, Mr. Vicheka demonstrated strong commitment and positive behavior. He was known for being hardworking, patient, attentive, helpful, and respectful toward trainers and fellow students. After completing six months of theoretical training, he undertook internships at two partner establishments: Sokha Siem Reap Resort & Convention Center and Pinak Pou Restaurant, each for two months as a Cook Helper.Although the beginning of his internship was challenging, his determination, honesty, and perseverance helped him overcome difficulties and build confidence in his skills. He successfully completed his full training program at YDFA in November 2024.
Currently, Mr. Vicheka is employed as a Commis III at Koh Sdach Resort. During his three-month probation period, he earns $230 per month, which increases to $250 after probation, along with additional benefits such as service charge (tip box), public holidays (PH), annual leave (AL), and NSSF coverage.Despite his modest income, Mr. Vicheka shows strong family responsibility by contributing 60% of his salary to support his parents, while using the remaining 40% for his personal expenses.For this achievement, Mr. Vicheka would like to express his sincere gratitude to the YDFA management team and Child's Dream Foundation, especially Mr. Marc and Mr. Daniel, for their generous support of the vocational training program. Their contribution has enabled him to gain valuable skills, secure stable employment, and build a brighter future for himself and his family.
