Mr. Di San, a 20-year-old young man from Srah Khvav village, comes from a disadvantaged family background. Growing up in a small 5m x 5m house with seven family members, San experienced financial hardship from an early age. His parents, Mr. Ly Di and Mrs. Hot Heng, migrated to Kandal province to work as gardeners, earning only around $100 per month to support the family back home.
San has four siblings. His older brother, Di Suy, works as a fish seller earning approximately $2.50 per day, while his three younger siblings are still attending school. Due to these financial challenges, San was unable to complete his high school education.
Despite these difficulties, San has always been determined to change his future. He carried a strong sense of responsibility and dreamed of building a better life for himself and his family.
In October 2025, San took a courageous step by applying to the Hospitality Training Program at Youth’s Dream Fulfillment Association (YDFA). After a thorough selection process, including a home visit and family interview, YDFA recognized his commitment and difficult living conditions and awarded him a full scholarship.
In January 2026, San officially joined the program, which provides a comprehensive 10-month training opportunity. The scholarship supports him with accommodation (homestay), daily meals, training materials, healthcare, and financial assistance. Upon completion, he will receive a certificate and job placement support.
San chose to specialize in Food and Beverage Service. From the beginning, he has demonstrated strong motivation, active participation, and a deep passion for learning. He embraces every lesson with curiosity and is always eager to improve his skills. His positive attitude and dedication have made him a promising trainee.
San’s journey is a powerful example of how opportunity, combined with determination, can transform a young life. With continued effort and support, he aspires to grow in the hospitality industry and one day become a Food and Beverage Director managing multiple hotels.
